EU chief of staff, part of NATO military, tells Burmese army chief to stop killing protesters

The bloody crackdown on one part of Southeast Asia is taking place on one of Burma's oldest waters. The country, which has only known the value of democracy for five years, has since disappeared due to a coup d'état on February 1. At least 20 government universities, school and hospitals in major cities including Yangon, Mandalay, Magway, Monywa and Ayeyarwady have been occupied by security forces of the military regime as their base camps.
